The creation of a DVD-Video (or a MiniDVD) is implemented in 5 easy steps (please see diagram):
- Video capturing in MPEG format from various analog sources (NTSC, PAL, SECAM, S-Video) or from digital sources (DVD-Video, MPEG files, AVI files, BMP files, M-JPEG,...),
- MPEG file editing (copy, paste),
- Authoring of interactive chapters and creation of the logical DVD-Video Image on your hard drive (VIDEO_TS),
- DVD project verification and validation with a DVD-Video Player,
- Production of the final project on your target medium through the use of the appropriate writer "DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD-RAM, CD-R, CD-RW" (not included).

VIDEO CAPTURE AND COMPRESSION
N MPEG AND BMP FORMAT
DCMTM includes a real time video capture and compression PCI card which also features a video out connector. The PCI card grabs and outputs all analog video standards (NTSC, PAL, SECAM, S-Video).
The PCI card houses the famous VM2000TM MPEG-2 compression chip from VITEC Multimedia which is the result of an important European research program (ESPRIT) comprised of the best specialists in the MPEG research field.
Thanks to its unique and highly innovative hybrid architecture, VM2000TM acts as a specialized co-processor and takes full advantage of the ever increasing PC power.
The unique VM2000TM architecture allows the owner of DCMTM to continuously enhance the performance of the card with new features by just purchasing software upgrades thus guaranteeing an unprecedented product upgrade path!

MAIN FEATURES OF THE MPEG ENCODER:
MPEG-2 and MPEG-1, MP@ML, 704x576 pixels in PAL & SECAM, 704x480 in NTSC, 50 & 60 frames per sec. In PAL & NTSC, Complete GOP Structure: IBBP, IPP or III, Compression rate from 1 to 15 Mbit/sec in CBR & VBR.
Motion estimation parameters: the largest search window on the market, +-511 pixels horizontally and +-255 pixels vertically. Audio stereo: MPEG-1 audio Layer I and II, PCM and AC3, DVD and VIDEO CD 2.0 MPEG compatible files.

SOFTWARE BUNDLED:
DCMTM is supplied with a complete DVD-Video software package allowing the user to implement all the necessary steps to create and produce either a MiniDVD or a DVD-Video:
- User friendly capture software with monitoring function on the screen of the PC and with analog video output during the real time encoding and compression phase,
- DVD-Video conversion software to bring DVD-Video file into MPEG files (VOBtoMPEGTM),
- Software transcoder to encode AVI and BMP files into MPEG-2 files (MPEG MAKER-2TM),
- MPEG-2 editing software (VIDEO Clip MPEG-2 SETM),
- DVD-Video authoring software (DVDMakerTM),
- Audio remixing software to replace the audio part of an mpeg file with another audio track from a WAV source (MPEGRemixTM),
- DVD-Video software player for PC.

ALSO SUPPLIED IN DCMTM:
DCMTM comes with all the necessary cables to connect your video sources and video displays to the card: S-Video input and output (mini Din 4 pin), composite input and output (RCA), Audio stereo input and output (mini jack 3.5 mm and RCA).

MINIMAL CONFIGURATION REQUIRED:
Pentium III 500Mhz, 128 Meg RAM, AGP graphics card, UltraDMA or SCSI-2 Hard Disk.
DCM would automatically take full profit of any faster PC.
